As the year-end approaches, both Wakatobi Dive Resort and the Pelagian wish to thank all those that have visited us in 2005. On several fronts, 2005 will be remembered as one of our best years ever. We’ve been honored with environmental initiative awards by both PADI and Scuba Diving magazine. We were also nominated for two World Travel Awards for world’s best dive operator and Indonesia’s leading resort. In addition, the Pelagian liveaboard is now fully integrated into the Wakatobi family—and already starting to get rave reviews. And finally, we have had several returning guests comment that the reefs and marine life around Wakatobi are as healthy and robust as they have ever been—a testament to the years of marine conservation work we've pioneered at Wakatobi.
With 2006 right around the corner, we can't wait to see what the new season will bring (for a hint, keep reading).
Guest Comments Just In from the Pelagian
We’ve had many questions about the diving in the Wakatobi region aboard the Pelagian liveaboard. Here is a small sampling from our most recent guests:
“We spent an hour in the water with three minke whales; watched 100 +/- dolphin on the hunt; dove with turtles, cuttlefish, stingrays, morays, banded sea snakes, not to mention all the little critters muck diving. I took two 1 GB cards for the camera, laptop and a dozen CDs and used them all.”
Dennis Pfeffer
Pelagian guest, September 2005
"The Pelagian experience was fantastic! The boat is beautiful, the crew fantastic, and the diving is excellent."

Another Couple Reasons Not To Delay Your Wakatobi Trip
Reading over guest comments in the last month, we were amazed by the number of “world traveler” divers that were awestruck by the Wakatobi experience. Here's a sample:
"In the 13 years I have been diving, Wakatobi is the best resort I have ever visited."
Douglas Armstrong

"I have traveled all over the world and have seen beautiful places & beaches, but nothing compares to Wakatobi Dive Resort, absolutely breath taking.”
Lachelle Koester

"I've been to PNG, the Red Sea, the Coral Sea - Wakatobi beats them all!!”
Michael Canzoneiro

"We've been diving for 20 years+ this was the best total experience ever, diving, macro + micro flora + fauna, hospitality + responsiveness"
Ray Peacoe
October 2005
And, remember…you don’t have to travel the world before you discover Wakatobi. It’s ok to start at the top!
Looking Forward to 2006 and a Special Offer
With only a few months left in 2005, the end of the season at Wakatobi is quickly approaching. For those coming to Wakatobi in 2006, here are a few highlights of what is coming in the 2006 season:
- The resort’s new restaurant will be open by the start of the season.
- A second Cliff Villa will be completed, offering guests another finely appointed accommodation with 80 square meters (860 square feet) of comfort.
- The Pelagian will be featuring special Komodo Island cruises during select months (Feb-March and June – August).
One-third of Wakatobi Resort dates for 2006 are already fully booked, with another one-third approaching fully booked. There are still many dates available but the numbers are dwindling.
2006 Pelagian cruise dates are beginning to fill as word is getting out. Given the success of our inaugural year with the Pelagian, we look forward to really impressing guests in 2006 with even more spectacular diving and vessel upgrades.
Thanks again to all those that have visited us in the past year, and over the past years. It's your feedback, your word of mouth, and your support of our conservation efforts that continues to inspire us to give you a holiday diving experience beyond your dreams.
Sincerely,
• The Wakatobi and Pelagian Team.
