Rating? Somewhere between good and very good.

The cheaper rooms appear to much more modern than the older, but more expensive and traditionally Balinese in style apartments facing out onto the courtyard and swimming pool; the latter having the advantage of a balcony; hence the extra cost. If you are not bothered about the balcony, the cheaper rooms are to be recommended.

I think the staff have been here a long time and tend to have a kind of resigned approach, but they are nonetheless always polite and usually smiling.

Extremely close to the ubiquitous T-shirt and massage emporiums that abound all the way to the beach and elsewhere in pretty much all directions, the Bakungsari hotel is right in the thick of the daytime street market-type hassling and bang in the middle of the heaving nighttime street life.

The hotel restaurant food is reasonably varied and as with all aspects of this establishment; somewhere between good and very good value for money. Recommended.

Room Tip: The cheaper rooms are without balconies, but appear generally to be much more modern in design than...

Editor's note: A comfortably and valuable motel style property in Kuta, but not an expensive one. Recommended.
