Locally
known as the Loro Jonggrang Temple or "the Temple of the slender virgin', Prambanan
is the biggest Hindu temple in Indonesia, built in 9th century. Its parapets are adorned
with a bas -relief depicting the Ramayana story. The temple complex has eight shrines, of
which the three main ones are dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma.
Visit also to the temples of; Sewu-located only several hundreds meters north east of
Prambanan temple, the Plaosan temple and Kalasan temple. |
