INDONESIA KEEPS PROMISES: VISA ON ARRIVAL FOR 11 MORE NATIONS

, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has achieved to get the approval from the Government, for 11 more countries to receive Visa on arrival (VOA). In a press conference at the WTO TOURCOM conference in Bali the 20th of May 2005, the Deputy MinistIn its endeavors to overcome the negative impacts caused to the perception of Indonesia as a desirable destination for international visitors since the last few monthser for Marketing Mr Udin Saiffudin announced that the Ministry was trying urge the Government to approve this important measure. 'The policy is aimed at attracting foreign tourists to visit Indonesia. We have set a target of bringing in more than six million foreign tourists this year,' State Minister of Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik said on the 14th of June, after a meeting at the office of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. The government has decided to allow the nationals of 11 countries in Europe and the Middle East to obtain a visa-on-arrival (VOA) in an effort to attract more tourists to the country. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Egypt, Austria, Ireland, Qatar, and Luxemburg are the additional countries granted VoA facility. The government is also in the process of granting a Visa on Arrival facility to the Peoples Republic of China and India. The decision brings the number of foreign countries to have been granted the facility to 32. The visa-on-arrival will now be valid for either six (6) or thirty (30) days. A six-day visa will cost US$10 while a 30-day visa will cost $25. This visa on arrival will only take effect after the Ministers Decree for Justice and Human Rights has been issued. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism is working very actively to respond to the challenges facing the industry, this new facility for visa will definitely contribute to stimulate more business in the sector and increase international visitors arrivals. ATF 2006: Accommodation ready

BANGKOK - Accommodation arrangements for delegates attending next January's ASEAN Tourism Forum in Yangon are ready. Some 2,800 rooms have been set aside in 16 hotels, said Jehan Wickremesooriya, general manager of Kandawgyi Palace Hotel, who sits in the ATF 2006 committee. 'Everybody is excited that the show is coming to Yangon and the buildup is gaining momentum. 'It's very encouraging to see that hotels are taking the initiative and doing soft refurbishment to their rooms and properties,' he said. The Myanmar Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is promoting the event at the Thai Travel Mart taking place here this week.

"Usaba Kesanga" (rituals of the ninth month) filled up with full-moon ceremony held at Gaduh Temple and meeting at 12.00 noon. A group of maidens go to the beach of Candi Dasa near by for praying, followed by the others, at 07.00 a.m.
