 Central Java Province as one of the Indonesian tourist destinations offers various kinds of tourist attractions whether cultural and natural or man made features. One of the most outstanding attractions is archeological sites in the form of temples which were built in the glory of Indonesia’s Hindu & Buddhist Kingdoms are abundant, such as the Keraton or palace Buildings, old mosques as well as the graves of the late Moslem Kings & saints- the Islamic proselytizer in the province.
Tourist mountain resort exists where visitor can enjoy camping, hiking and mountaineering. Other attractions to visit are beach resorts, natural caves, waterfalls and marine life park.
Central Java is also famous for the major central of Batik and weaving cloth with either traditional or contemporary design motifs as well as the use of the best quality textiles materials for batik and weaving. Wood carving of Jepara is very well known due to its artistry in carving wood on various motifs. Other exquisite crafts, which can be found for souvenirs are brass craft, stone carving, ceramic, leather puppet (wayang kulit) etc. Whereas a variety of specific foods & snacks are available in the province such as Wingko (of sticky rice), Bandeng presto (of sea fish), Kacang Dieng (peanut of Dieng Plateau), Kripik Jamur (mushroom chip), Kawis Syrup and Carica papaya.
