The Casa Luna Cooking School classes provide a fascinating insight into Balinese life, beliefs and culture through learning about its food, cooking and culinary myths.

Class discussions are relaxed and friendly and held three times a week in the lush tropical setting of the family compound, with host teachers - Cutout Sardinia and Janet De Neefe. They include specific references to the role of food in Balinese society, its ceremonial use and its religious importance.

Participants learn about the exotic herbs and spices used in ceremonial and everyday Balinese dishes and are encouraged to actively help prepare the lavish Balinese feast that will then be enjoyed with a glass or two of the local rice wine, or homemade hibiscus tea.

Written notes and recipes are provided in each class and people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy the lessons which are conducted in English.

Casa Luna offers a varied menu with dishes featuring each special characteristic. The Balinese food and homemade cakes and desserts served in Casa Luna are a favorite amongst the guests. The same menu and style is offered in its sister restaurant - Indus Restaurant, in Sanggingan, Ubud.
