 Oka's is a very pretty Balinese restaurant. The lumpia (spring roll) is the kind that lumpia fans dream of : three small rolls filled with fresh vegetables and chicken, then fried to a dark crispy perfection, leaving no trace of oil. Cool off with the Gezpacho which, although not authentic, is very satisfying. It is more like a spicy cream of tomato soup and its cool taste is really refreshing.
Try the Gezpacho with the lumpia and one of Oka's tall ice teas on a hot Bali afternoon. It is a cool treat that you will long remember. The fried rice is a large, appetizing portion cooked in authentic Chinese style and is served with two sticks of chicken satay that are fantastic : solid white cubes of chicken that have been barbecued, and served with a tasty homemade sauce. The rice also comes with a delicious fried chicken breast.
Meanwhile, the steaks are excellent. Thick, juicy, export quality meat that is cooked to order. And all of the sauces that accompany the steaks are heavenly, but the restaurant is thoughtful enough to serve them on the side, so that you can decide for yourself if you want them or not. Try the Peppersteak Diablo, which is topped with one of the most exquisite pepper sauces you will ever taste. All steaks are served with some great chips that are thick-cut and crispy.
