COMO Hotels and Resorts assumes management of Begawan Giri Estate, Bali
COMO Hotels and Resorts, with an establish reputation for developing individual escapes that balance the best traditions of design and service from the East and West, announced that it has added a new property to its portfolio : Begawan Giri Estate.
This unique property, for which COMO Hotels & Resorts assumes immediate management with significant investment, is considered to be a perfect match with the company’s existing island retreats, including Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos, and new in 2002, Cocoa Island in the Maldives. In summer 2004, the company opens a five-star hotel to open in the Himalayan and Bangkok, and the Halkin in London.
Begawan Giri Estate, already a highly successful resort, represents the passion of a single man, Bradley Gardner, and his wife Debbie, who have develop the award-winning property with keen respect for its auspicious and serene location (the resort has been ranked in the Top 10 Overseas Leisure Hotels Asia in Conde Nast Travellers Readers Travel Award 2003 and vote #1 in the Top 100 Best of The Best in 2002). It sits on the banks of the Ayung River, its existence concealed by sacred tropical forest on the fringe of Ubud, Bali’s ancient cultural COMO Hotels & Resorts shares this vision. Privacy is zealously protected for both guests and wild life, affording rare silence that is close to nature. The architecture, consisting of 22 suites located in five different Residences, is an eclectic selection indigenous style. The acknowledgment of cultural context especially in the resort’s sensitive aesthetic – is appropriately aligned with COMO’s driving philosophy: to create bespoke retreats where discerning travelers can connect to the spirit of an unspoilt and precious destination.
