New General Manager
 Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Reto V. Torriani as General Manager, effective January 12st, 2007.
An American and Swiss national, he was educated in Switzerland at the Lucerne School of Hotel Management where he graduated and added a Bachelor Degree in Hotel- and Tourism Business and Administration degree. His hospitality career started in the the late 70ties and he has held General Manager positions in the United States, North Africa, French Polynesia, Indonesia, The Caribbeans and Hong Kong. Fluent in English, German, Italian and French he was most recently the Resort Manager at Cheeca Lodge and Spa in the Florida Keys, FL prior to return to Bali and (he was the opening GM for The Chedi Ubud in 1996) joining the Nusa Dua Hotel & Spa, Bali. With his vast international experience he has perfected his management skills and we are confident that Mr. Torriani will lead our team through the success and challenges ahead in 2007.

Named in the "Guiness Book of Records" in 1997 for the longest journey around the World in one- and the same car, Mr. & Mrs. Emil Schmidt from Switzerland made their trip around Indonesia since December 17th, 2006. During their stop in Bali, they happened to be guest of honor at the Rotary Club luncheon at the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa. They were accompanied to the luncheon by the Consul of Switzerland and Austria in Bali, Mr. Jon Zuercher.
During the lunch the Schmidt's told their audience about their long year experiences and adventures driving their Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60, which is equipped as a mobile home complete with a small kitchen and other utilities.
Their unique and exciting journey started in 1984 from Iceland to New York. Since then, they have covered 45 countries in Europe, 27 States in North America, 13 countries in South- and Central America, 35 in Africa, 34 in Asia and Australia.
While in Indonesia, they made a round-trip from Jakarata to visit the Borobudur Temple in Yogyakarta and then on to Bali. Of course Bali is not their final destination in Indonesia and they will continue to cross the sea to the East including Lombok, Sumbawa, Sumba, Flores and the Timor Islands.
Confirming many people's impression about Bali, Mr. Schmidt said "We had a wonderful time exploring and encountered beautiful landscapes along the coast as well as in the mountains, and the Balinese spirit is still present everywhere".
We wish Mr. & Mrs. Schmidt a safe journey and many more years of travelling the Globe. Of course we hope to see them again in Bali.
