InterContinental Resort Bali Reveals Renovation Plans [published on Dec 12, 2003]

After recently celebrating 10 years of success, InterContinental Resort Bali is about to embark on an extensive refurbishment and development program that will prepare the property for the next decade and offer discerning travelers’ an exceptional standard of luxury and comfort. The program will be phased throughout most of 2004 and will fully embrace the needs of the 21st Century, the proposed new designs for the Resort are a collaboration of up-to-date elegance, impeccable taste and innovative ideas.

A bold new entrance, grand lobby and the charming walkways that lead directly down to the various pools and the Jimbaran beach front draw inspiration from the traditional elements of fire and water. An infusion of Balinese architecture and components of modern design will heighten the Resort’s sensitivity towards its natural surroundings. The mature tropical landscape, winding lagoon, ornamental ponds and carved works of stone spouting water are a particular focal point within the property and will remain intact. Throughout the Resort, guests have always been able to seek out their very own niche, be it a place for quiet contemplation or just to admire the pure splendor of the surroundings.

The Resort will continue to maintain its six distinctly themed restaurants and bars. All outlets have and will be refurbished to complement the Resort’s future positioning, offering international and innovative dining options to suit any appetite. A sophisticated culinary experience is offered at Singaraja Restaurant, which is a setting resplendent of the Dutch colonial era specializing in creative Asian Infusion cuisine from neighboring regions. A lavish breakfast buffet is available at Taman Gita Restaurant while perfect sunsets can be enjoyed at our pleasant Beach Bar that overlooks the Indian Ocean. For some carefree nightlife, the Resort has its own fun pub known as the Monkey Forest.

Jimbaran Gardens Restaurant is one the most popular venues with its unique settings; from intimate dinners under the stars, to dining in a traditional raised lounging pavilion, dinner with live entertainment on the terrace or the special section that children especially enjoy where they can view tropical marine life in a beautifully lit aquarium. KO Japanese Restaurant serves excellent cuisine in a choice of dinning environment. Ceremonial feasts are served in traditional tatami rooms, while there is also an authentic teppanyaki grill area, sushi and sashimi bar and luxury lounge divided into four sections for private dining featuring classical live entertainment.

A fresh contemporary look is planned for the exclusive Club InterContinental Lounge that will treat guests to an unprecedented level of service and hospitality 24-hours a day. The lounge will double its current size and feature sleek furnishings in an uncluttered environment for discerning travelers’ to relax and unwind in privacy away from the mainstream activity of the Resort. Possibly one of the best facilities for guests on the island, InterContinental Resort Bali’s Club Lounge will actually resemble an ‘elite Haven within the Resort’ and will include a fully equipped Business Centre with high-speed Internet access, an international standard library and a DVD library for guest entertainment. Further amenities will also include indoor and outdoor relaxation areas and an extensive cocktail bar. Guests will have access to the Club InterContinental which serves breakfast, high tea, evening cocktails and a late night supper of hot and cold snacks. A 24-hour special a la carte dining menu will also be available as one of the many complimentary benefits for all Club InterContinental guests.

In a similar fashion, Club InterContinental Rooms and Suites will undergo a complete refurbishment and will emerge as the Resort’s ultimate accommodation types that will be the very essence of luxury. Designed to accentuate light and space, these rooms will be luxuriously appointed with a modern décor that provides all of the necessary up-to-date conveniences. To create an effortless enjoyment, the custom made bed is completed with a down blanket, a comforter and a crisp white duvet which is specially created to please the senses of discerning travelers. All Club InterContinental Rooms and Suites will feature a flat screen televisions with individual DVD players, an elegant bathroom with generous vanity stocked with extravagant Bulgari amenities and exclusive personalized stationery. The Club InterContinental Suites in particular redefine the term comfort and provide guests with separate sleeping and relaxation environments mirroring the set up of a trendy loft apartment. Specially designed with colors that warm the heart and textures that thrill the touch, guests can create their own world in complete privacy and true comfort. In addition, a spacious open terrace in ground floor rooms is the private haven to sun bath, relax and enjoy an outdoor private breakfast with hospitable service of the full time butler.

A team of specially trained private butlers will be on call around the clock exclusive for Club InterContinental Rooms and Suites to anticipate every guest need without intrusion while respecting guest’s privacy. They will provide an extraordinary level of service covering details such as wake-up calls, breakfast service, garment pressing, unpacking luggage upon arrival as well as assisting guests to pack prior to departure for their next destination.

To further complement these facilities is the creation of a destination spa - The Spa at InterContinental Resort Bali’s which promises to be an awe inspiring and luxurious complex. With dramatic architecture that combines Roman modern design with touches of Indonesian style, this luxurious facility will be reminiscent of an opulent bathhouse from ancient times that sets the mood for pure indulgence. The Spa will include a compound of ultra- private treatment villas complete with individual plunge pools, spa treatment suites, a hydrotherapy pool and elevated platforms and contemporary style pavilions facing the infinite views over the Indian Ocean, drawing guests to partake in therapies of indulgence in peaceful reflection. Inspired by the earth’s natural elements, the complex will blend water features and sculptures set amidst formal gardens that will be lit by dancing torches of fire. Situated at the pristine beach front of Jimbaran Bay, the Spa will cover an abundance of space that will lend itself to healing and beauty regimes, horse riding, a putting green and other leisure activities of a holistic nature.

The Spa is much more than just a spa; it is a destination retreat that will focus on blessing Bali with a centre for well-being that will set a higher standard in spa design and extravagance. This intimate haven will evoke the senses where guests will totally surrender their body, mind and soul in the quest for rejuvenation

The whole refurbishment and development program is scheduled over the coming year and will be carried out in sections to minimize unnecessary disturbances. Guests will be unaware of the ongoing proceedings, as work areas will be partitioned discreetly off and out of sight.

In order to continue catering discerning travelers, InterContinental Resort Bali will offer an alternative location for the Club InterContinental Lounge with enhanced benefit and accommodation in newly refurbished deluxe rooms.

General Manager of InterContinental Resort Bali, Mr Amadeo Zarzosa comments, “After a successful decade of operations, this development truly marks a turning point for the Resort. I am personally impressed with the proposed plans. The new look captures the spirit of style and modern comfort; yet it is still respectful towards the rich culture of the island and its fine artistry. This is a serious investment that indicates just how committed we are to maintain InterContinental Resort Bali’s unblemished reputation as a luxury property especially with the new luxury and comfort of the new Club InterContinental and the unprecedented spa facility. Bali still remains a premier leisure destination for travelers’ from around the world and I am confident that the charm and gracious hospitality of the island will continue to draw guests in the future and we look forward to welcoming them”.
