Gunung Merta Bungalows is a collection of 10 unique guest rooms set within a traditional Balinese home compound of a high caste family overlooking the Mas River and surrounding rice fields in the cultural village of Ubud.
Gunung Merta literally means ‘tree of life’ and travellers choosing to stay here have the opportunity to experience an authentic Balinese lifestyle by interacting with the family and participating in their daily activities.
This high caste family environment is known as a Geriya and features different structures, pavilions and a temple complex orientated in accordance to principles of the cosmic structure of the Balinese Hindu universe.

Guest rooms are nestled within a peaceful garden at the back of the family compound in twin structures that have been architecturally inspired by the composition and elevated roof top of a traditional Balinese rice barn.
Each room is comfortably appointed and features a generous sized bed/s with functional mosquito netting, separate bathroom facilities and other home conveniences.
Upper storey rooms feature a small balcony overlooking a river and temple complex, while the lower rooms have terraces that seamlessly blend into the garden with its random planting of fruit trees and indigenous flora.
Guest activities at Gunung Merta Bungalows revolve around the daily activities of the family compound and include pastimes such as shopping at the marketplace and making offerings.
