Tumpek Krulut is a part of Tumpek cycle which comes about every month based on the Balinese calendar sytem. Prawanining Tilem Kapitu (Siwaratri)
This day is the seventh dark moon based on the Balinese lunar calendar system, also known as the Siwaratri or the Night of Siwa. The celebration of Siwaratri day is marked by the Brata (self restriction) of Siwaratri, this includes: Jagra (staying awake all night long), Upawasa (fasting), Monabrata (restricting speech) as well as giving ‘punia’ (religious funds) to the priests and the poor people.
