 The Bunaken Marine National Park with an area of 75.26 hectares comprises of 5 island: Bunaken, Manado Tua, Siladen, Mantehage and Nain.
Bunaken Island covering an area of 808 ha with sloping white sandy beach facing the coastline of Manado.
Bunaken Sea Garden is located off this island, one of the world's most impressive diving spots. The safest and most popular diving spot lies at Teluk Liang (Liang Cove). Here, it is considered the best wall and drop-offs diving in the world.
There are fantastic "underwater great walls" cut by crevices and large caves with hanging masses of coral. On these unique coral reefs, a tremendous collection of marine life thrives red and orange entrusting sponges, Christmas tree worms, basket and tube sponges anemones stocked with clown fish, brightly color crinoids, giant tunicates, seawhips, nudibranches (Spanish dancer), transparent and red-striped coral shrimps, lobsters, crabs, mollusc, thousands of ornamental coral fish and larger pelagic.
Often seen are Napeleon wrasse, angelfish, turtles, blue ribbon eels, morays, stingray, eagleray, snapper, groupers, tuna and harmless sea-snakes, sharks, baracudas, dolphins etc.
Bunaken Sea Garden is easily reachable by motor boat from Manado harbour (boat terminal: Pasar Bersehati, at Jengki river), Molas and Kalasey. Stretching 8 miles from the coastal line of Manado, it is reachable by boats from boat terminals in Manado Harbour, Molas/Kalasey/Jengki Market.
