Jambi’s economy is comprised of agriculture, fishery, forestry, mining and handicrafts.
The province produces a variety of food crops such as rice, corn and peanuts, as well as commercial crops such as coconut, cloves, rubber, cacao and tea.
The livestock of Jambi includes cows, buffaloes, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens, whilst the fishery includes shrimp, jellyfish, tuna fish and fresh water fish..
The forestry produces logs, processed woods, veneer, plywood, blackboard, slate pencil, resin, and rattan.
The mining concerns are LNG (liquid natural gas), petroleum, coal and copper, while the handicrafts include weaving, carving, plaiting and batik.
