 The economy of West Sumatera consists of some major fields, i.e. agriculture like planting food crops like rice, corn, peanut, small green peas, cassava, soybean, fruits and vegetables, planting commercial crops like palm oil, coconut, rubber, clove, cocoa, tea and coffee.
The livestock products include cows, buffaloes, horses, goats, sheep, and pigs, while the fisher products include tuna, barramundi, shrimp and anchovy. The forestry products include rattan, resin, logs and proceeded-woods, while mining products include coal, cement, limestone, marble, and silica. The handicrafts are made of rattan and bamboo plaiting, wood-carving and cloth weaving.
