These temples are only three kilometers away prior to arriving at Borobudur temple from magelang or Yogyakarya. The two temples are Buddhist temple with different form. Mendut temple has three big statues of the Avalokitesvara and Vajrapani.
Pawon temple is smaller than Mendut, but it resembles in style and decoration.
Mendut was once linked to Borobudur by a stone paved-walk, which passed by Pawon. The three sanctuaries belong to the same period and there was apparaently same ritual link among them.
