Built in 1765, the Vredeburg Fort is the old Dutch fort located on the northern part of the main Post Office on JI. P Senopati. It has been restored and the architecture is worth a visit. As well, Benteng Vredeburgh now houses a museum showing the history of the Independence movement in Indonesia in which Yogya played such an important role.
