If you visit Surabaya, please spend your time to come to The Monumen Kapal Selam (The Submarine monument) of KRI Pasopati 410, which located on Jalan Pemuda no.39. The monument features the real shape of the Republic Indonesia’s Pasopati 410 Submarine. The monument was built on July 1st, 1995. Before the submarine made as monument, the big submarine which sized 76.6 m x 6.3 m, cut into 16 pieces. Then, the 16 pieces were reassembled to become the monument. The monument was launched on June 27th, 1998, and started to open for public on July 15th 1998.
If you get inside the submarine, you will find 7 rooms with their own functions, including the torpedo room, the officers lounge room, the information center, the junior officer room, the diesel cabin, the electric motor cabin, and the torpedo deck.
To beautify the surrounding area of the monument, various entertainment tools are available, including video, life music, Kalimas marine attraction, restaurant/café and souvenirs shop. There is also a garden known as Taman Swarga Puspitaloka in the monument area. The garden is well-designed comprising jogging track, corridor, relax sitting area, ornamental lamps and various plants. On the west wall, the history of marine is visualized, while on the eastern area stands a live stage. Every Saturday and Sunday nights, the live music show can be enjoyed here.
The monument opens Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 9 pm, on Saturday and Sunday opens from 8 am to 10 pm.
