And never say you have came to Ubud, before you have experienced the ritual ceremony. Yes, you may witness or even participate within the endorsement of the religious custom by visiting a temple during its anniversary or in the current holy days. Yet, feel like in home when you are away from home! Just make Ubud your second sweet home, and forget that you are in a trip. Getting along with the Ubud natives, and they might kindly invite you to attend the rituals of life transition, which comprise the baby’s three-month birthday, tooth-filling, wedding, cremation, and so forth. The longer you stay, the more unique rituals you may witness.

Similar to elsewhere around the island, Ubud’s temples also host marvelous variety of festivals, special prayers and observances of particular holidays. You may involve within the rituals, as the locals are friendly to visitors. They appreciate the interest taken in their culture, and welcome visitors to witness religious ceremonies and photograph them, so please treat their hospitality with due respect.

At temples and ceremonies both men and women traditionally wear a sash tied around the waist. Miniskirts, short and beach wear are definitely not appropriate at such places or occasion. Also, don’t walk in front of praying people, and temples walls and shrines must not be climbed upon.

There are some temples that you can visit around Ubud area. Pura (Temple) Batur Sari is a royal temple devoted to the deity of Mt Batur. During its six-month anniversary (odalan), the ritual dance performance stage is staged in front of the temple, right in the middle of Jalan Suweta, a few hundred metres north of Ubud' s main cross-roads. Some of the village’s communal are the Pura Dalem Ubud situated on the north side of Jalan Raya before the road descends to Campuan, Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal located down by the monkey forest, Pura Desa Ubud – the primary town temple – situated across from Ary' s Warung, and Pura Puseh -- the temple devoted to the ancestors spirits – situated in Jalan Suweta.

More temples in Ubud, including the Pura Gunung Lebah, situated at the convergence of the east and west branches of the Wos River, below the Campuan bridge; also Pura Pamerajan Sari C. Agung, the private family temple of the Ubud royal family, situated on the east side of Jalan Suweta, a little north of the Palace. And you also visit the Pura Taman Saraswati, devoted to Dewi Saraswati the goddess of learning, literature and the arts. This temple is a part of the Puri Saraswati complex, featuring a fine padmasana (lotus throne)
