Located in Banjar Blanjong, Sanur in the southwest of Hotel Sanur Beach. Behind of the Blanjong Temple is one of Bali's most significant archeological sites is maintained. That is The Prasasti Blanjong, an historical encient artifact. Its form is like a stone victory pillar. This artifact was founded by the Buddhist king Sri Kesari Warmadewa in A.D 914.
Refounded in 1932 by Dr. Gorris, a Ducth scholar, the inscription of the artifact tells us about the military expedition against eastern Indonesia, the time in which Balinese once obtained their slaves.
Dr. Gorris himself believed that the prasasti --- as well as the remains of prehistoric sanctuaries founded along this coastal strip --- proved an Indian colony settled the coast over 1,000 years ago. The volcanic stone's smooth 177-cm-high, 75-cm-diameter cylindrical body is crowned with a carved lotus cushion. Except at the top, most of the writing is indecipherable.
The Blanjong inscription written in two kinds of letters, i.e. the Pre-Negari letters that used Ancient Balinese language and the Old Javanese letters that used Sanskrit language. There were some statues found in Blanjong area.
The Ganesha Statue placed in a shrine located inside the Blanjong temples complex, about 15 m northwest of the inscription. The Ganesha is one of Gods in Hindu teaching. Ganesha that formed in a four hands god with elephant face is the son of Shiva who gives prosperity to all humankind. The Ganesha statue found in Blanjong area was made of stone. The statue stands on a narrow little building that twisted by a banyan tree’s roots growing in the temple.
