Paradise Sanctuary!! Serene, blissful and rich cultural atmosphere.

We booked a 4 night stay here through luxury link and had a package which included a lovely dinner, tea time snacks between 2-5 at the restaurant, breakfast every day, yoga every morning and 2 hrs spa treatment and an hr to the spa on our own. We hadn't been to Ubud before and wanted to stay away from the beach having been to so many on previous holidays.

The setting is perched alongside the side of an incline down towards Ayung river. The villas are spacious and we had one high up with wonderful views of the river and lush green surrounds.

We had 2 yoga sessions by the river and I went on for a 3rd. It wasn't easy but was very relaxing at the end. We both pulled a bit sore though. The aound of the rushing river, nature all around makes this an ideal yoga spot. Having never practised yoga before, it was very calming.

The food choices are ok-- there isn't a huge range but there is enough Balinese dishes to satisfy your curiosity. The chicken in Bali is almost a bit muscular and certainly not of the chunky sort you get --- i suspect they're all free range.

We also hired a driver for half a day and went shopping for art and yone carvings. Our driver was G'de a lovely guy who took us to several spots including rice terraces, a holy spring temple called Tirta Empul, the monkey forest. I bought a painting at the Koperasi and I highly recommend it for the wide selection and tastes. Do bargain the prices though! Never settle for what they say. We finished off with a trip to try Balinese coffee at a plantation and some delicious coco.

This is a natural setting so you do come across the occasional spider and bug which we killed.

This is a place for a cultural experience and an escape into nature. Highly recommended!
