Lovely friendly staff and their restaurant has absolutely amazing food at a budget price. At first I was unhappy with the room, it had a bad musty smell and the pillows were hard as rocks. But after a quick trip to the Carrefour by taxi I returned with new pillows, pillowslips, scented toilet and wardrobe refresher pouches, and a shower curtain. I had transformed the otherwise awful room into a much more comfortable place for about $20 which turned it into a great value for money hotel. As this is a budget place, you expect little things like the leaky tap, mouldy ceiling in the bathroom, etc. But the room next door was being painted and they transformed that into a great room, although it had a smaller tv so we didn't move. Air con worked great but did leak a couple of times and my daughter slipped on the wet tiles as a result. Overlooked the pool on the third floor, which was nice and quiet as far enough from the road. I missed not having a fridge in my room, could have got one for $10 a night more but that room (which I looked at first) was in a corner of the hotel with no view of the pool, so I accepted the no fridge situation. Overall you get what you pay for, and I think this place is great because the pool is brilliant for kids, and the food is divine. Loved having the restaurant bring me meals to my room on the nights I was too tired to go out. Also nice girls work there who are willing to do some babysitting work after their shift, which worked well for when I wanted to go out for a massage and some 'me' time. No other Aussies were there, mainly Indonesian and backpacker clientelle. Perfect for families though. We will stay there again, as I love the location with only a five minute walk to the beach, and so many shops and restaurants all around. Also found some lovely drivers/guides who work on the street outside, very well priced and the most wonderful personalities. See if you can find Agung he will give you a tour for a great price and if he isn't available he will find someone who is.
