Yulia Village Inn 4.0 of 5 stars 191 Reviews #109 of 157 Hotels in Ubud

“A little sanctuary in a central location” 4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Yulia Village Inn is accurately represented via Trip Advisor traveller reviews. I booked the accommodation direct via the Yulia website, with payment for the accommodation being processed upon arrival. All went very smoothly and the nightly rate was as per the price cited when I booked.

It is well located in the centre of Ubud on Monkey Forrest Rd, being a 10 minute stroll from the amazing Monkey Forrest. This road is a very busy road and at check in I was wondering if the reviews were correct in saying that this accommodation was shielded from the noise and fumes, but as soon as we crossed into the accommodation’s gardens I could see that all was going to be ok. In fact it was more than ok – the accommodation has been arranged so it is well away from the “outside world”. Our twin share room was perfect for us – located on the 2nd story with a balcony overlooking the lush gardens, with glimpses of the pool. The room itself was in immaculate condition – spacious, clean and airy with a well thought out bathroom arrangement. The wash basin area is separated from the shower/toilet area via a frosted glass wall & door, which works well for 2 people sharing a room. The wash basin area includes easily accessible built-in open shelving for storing your own toiletries, hairbrushes etc keeping them in easy reach without having to leave them on the basin bench.

The beds were super comfy and the linen & towels were good quality. My only issue was that the beds were not made up with a top sheet as I find this really helps me with temperature control, but this being said I mentioned this to reception staff and an extra sheet was provided when the room was serviced.

The aircon was very effective, storage was good and there were many well located powerpoints for charging phones/devices. The biggest problem is the Wifi was a little flaky. Sometimes the connection was good and at other times it was not possible to connect. I think this needs to be sorted out – even the local restaurants have fast, reliable easy to connect to Wifi, so I would think this should be relatively easy to resolve. TV options were limited, but this didn’t really bother us. Mini bar is basic but there is plenty of room for storing your own store-bought water.

We did not have breakfast at Yulia so I am unable to comment on that, but we did order room service one night and it was delicious and arrived quickly and hot (with negotiation, they were able to cater for some special dietary requirements). We did not use the pool and while quite small, it is nestled in lush gardens and has a well-positioned enticing daybed for those who like to spend some time relaxing around a pool reading etc.

If your expectations are 5 star, then this is not the place for you but if you are looking for a clean, quiet, safe, well-located sanctuary at a reasonable price then this is the place to book. I loved our stay here and would stay here again (if the Wifi issue was resolved).
