Value for money!

I frequently travel with my partner either for business or for recreation. It was my first trip to Batam after getting reviews from friends and family and I have to admit that I was a little skeptic since I have worked in a 5-6 star rating hotel myself. I tried getting reviews from the internet and even scrutinised the website when deem fit. I know, I am such a paranoid girl who pays close attention to details. My heart wasn't set right when I was asked of my credit card details despite knowing that it was a standard hotel policy. Nonetheless, I was greatly appreciative when Mr Mansor did not push me for such. Instead, he proceeded to make reservations on my behalf for both accommodations and travel. I did may part to pay my taxes to secure my booking and everything else just fell into place from then on. I was welcomed with a smiling Mr Mansor at the counter. It was impressive how he remembered my name despite barely having a clue as to who I was. Made it very welcoming and what further surprised me was, I was given early check-in without any additional charges. Check-in was swift and fast without any complications. Every staff was friendly during our stay. From the front office, to the security right down to the chambermaids. It was such a warm environment. Like a totally different place from Batam itself. Dinner was served promptly and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Though the range cannot be compared to that of the hotels I have worked in, I was truly impressed, again, with the range of food they prepared. From the traditional nasi, to cereal, omelettes, pudding, cakes and a variety of bread. My partner and I truly enjoyed the spread despite having a little confusion with the banquet lady. Overall, with reviews from my friends who frequent their apartments, Swiss-belhotel is worth every penny I put in. It is 5 minutes away from the harbour and 5 minutes away from the shopping district of Nagoya Hill. Truth is, the only setback was, I didn't feel safe to walk out of the hotel on my own to shops down the hill. The series of car maintainence team by the side of the road and the constantly busy road filled with motorcyclist failed to make me feel secure. It would have been a perfect 5 star rate for me if I was able to go anywhere outside the hotel without the need of a taxi. Then again, who am I to complain when the taxi fares are always at a minimum! Less than SGD 5.00 per trip to anywhere. Hehe. I would definitely head back to Swiss-belhotel if I ever visit Batam again. Thank you Mr Mansor and team for the efforts put in to make my stay worth the while.
