Stayed for 5 nights at the cottages. Our room faced the pool. The room was spacious enough and clean. The staff are fantastic and the grounds immaculate, however the rooms are tired and could hear our neighbours through the walls at times. I have read other reviews prior to our stay and agree with the issue about the fence blocking the view. It really is a problem as you cannot see the fantastic ocean or the surfing for this fence. The Cottages would be well advised to either remove the fence or build a raised platform hut to allow guests ocean/surfing views. This hut could double as a bar or at least have bar service, day beds or even massage etc. Because of this and the comparatively expensive meals, we did not eat at the Cottages preferring either the Warung on the beach (average meal $1.50) or Mai Malu up the street (average meal $3.5). We also used the massage ladies next to the Warung (Mamma, Maria and Mia) for $5 1 hour compared to the Cottages $10 an hour. Day manager Supre (spelling?) was fantastic, very helpful and an asset to this business. Security staff also patrolled the premises which was reassuring. The surf is not for the beginner, especially if the swell is larger. Booties are a must to walk aross the rock and also to exit the surf. Was a lovely quiet location, well worth the trip from Denpasar.
