Having stayed here very recently and then reading a negative review on trip advisor I couldn't believe they were talking about the same place. Things must have changed significantly since that visitor's stay because we had an amazing time. The grounds are absolutely stunning and were immaculately cared for. Our rooms were cleaned twice a day and all the bedlinens, towels etc were very fresh and clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and nothing was ever too much of an effort.
We were 3 couples staying with 3 small boys, and we were quite demanding of the chef, wanting specific meals for the kids at different times to the adults, and he was always willing to adapt and cooperate to provide what we needed. The food was generally very good, particularly the local dishes, but if we felt a dish was a bit bland one day we would ask them to add more spice the next day and they would happily do so. The kitchen was definitely intended for staff use rather than guest use. It was relatively small and quite hot so we certainly didnt do a lot of meal preparation, but it was fine to cut up fruit for the kids. When we arrived we were served beautiful iced tea. Apart from that there were not really any snacks waiting for us, we went and bought them ourselves with the driver, but the butler was able to get things for us with minimum notice, and I am sure they would be happy to organise snacks ahead ready for your arrival if you requested this prior.
We were provided with a car and driver who was always readily available at about 10 minutes notice, which was handy to pop out to the supermarket etc. The property is definitely quite remote, which suited us because we didnt really plan to leave it very much, but it could be inconvenient if you wanted to do a lot of sightseeing. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, particularly with the children, who loved all the extra attention they got. We also had some wonderful massages organised with a few hours notice by the staff.
As we were travelling with 3 toddlers we were very conscious that there are a lot of unprotected water features and pools on the property. It did require a bit of vigilance on our part, though it wasnt a major problem.
My one negative comment is that for a few days when we were there, a neighbouring property was doing some kind of construction work and we were disturbed by quite a noisy saw. This obviously isnt the fault of the staff and we may just have been unlucky.
Overall we thought this was an absolutely beautiful place to stay, and we couldn't have asked for nicer, more friendly staff. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
