Good for the price and fit for purpose...

Let me start by saying the 'road' out front of the hotel has not been treated well by the wet season. Our taxi driver had to be encouraged to make the 1 klm trip. Four wheel drive would have been reasonably useful. Having not stayed at the Alit before and arriving in darkness, this didn't bode well. The one night stay turned out ok, however. Unless you are a japanese tourist on a package deal, you would probably only stay at the Alit because you wanted somewhere adequate close to the Airport. For this purpose the hotel is perfect. (I mention the japanese tourists because the rest of the guests in the hotel were all from the land of the rising sun) Our arrival at the hotel was met with some confusion. Once we got past the fact that I had used an online travel agent (Hotel.com) and clearly the hotel hadnt checked its' online bookings anytime recently, and once they were sure we understood that three persons in a room meant an extra $20 US, and once they played with our bill to try and get their total equal to the online booking account when they had included tax, we checked in. This process took about 40 minutes. It's lucky the room was airconditioned when we finally got there. From there on however, our short stay was lovely. The room we were given was large, airy and clean. The king bed was soft by Bali standards. The western bathroom was clean but a little dated - the brown tiles are not a feature. We had breakfast which was good for an $80 per night hotel and we were the only guests to use the pool at 10 a.m. All in all the hotel was good as a transit venue. We would stay again and recommend it to others
