Solidarity for Bali

Once again the island of Bali is shrouded in sadness due to the recent terror attack on our shores. Heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the victims and their families who have suffered as a result of this barbaric act of cowardice.

Bali certainly does not deserve this tragedy which took place just days prior to one of our most important religious holidays. Our people embrace peace and harmony as part of the Hindu lifestyle. Unfortunately, terrorism is now very much a part of the world that we live in – and nowhere is immune. There have been ruthless attacks on our brothers in New York, Spain and London. Bali’s also shares this pain.

I urge all international travelers to unite and show solidarity. Please continue to visit Bali and other destinations with similar suffering in an effort to show the perpetrators of such evil that they will never defeat us.

Bali is still a ‘paradise’ and no terror tactic can ever change that. The Balinese remain genuine hosts and take pleasure in greeting old friends and new.

We have a pleasure to list those support us and show deep solidarity and you may also send email to us and we are going to add on.

Dear All,

First of all we are very sorry for what happened on your beautiful Island! But the Balinese people are NOT responsible for this attack, it happens all over the World by sick people who have no love inside of them for
any other living human been.

90% of all the people on Bali are Hindu and they are just busy all day with bringing offers and we had never met more friendly people than the people on Bali and therefore we will visit Bali again in 2006.

We can recommend all people to do the same, because these people really deserves our support, they are depending on the tourist industry !!

I was living in Bali and opening a tourism business when the first attacks happened but had to leave 1 month after due to business failure. I made my first trip back for a buddies wedding in Bali and departed 2 days before the last attacks.

I have every intention to return to Bali in the near future and no devious, selfish and evil attacks will ever change that.

Hang in there. Bali has a peace all it's own.

Dear people of Bali,

Be assured that this couple of ‘senior’ travellers will never be deterred from travelling because of terrorism. We were in France on 9/11, in Turkey when the first Bali bombing occurred, and only a few hundred metres distance in Legion, for the second bombing.

We did not hurry home, and will be back probably sometime this year. We urge our friends not to be put off from their plans because of the actions of an evil minority whose aim seems mainly to do with damaging Bali. Not travelling is in our view the same as actively supporting the terrorists.

Hi, just letting you know that i have just come back from bali after getting married there. We left 27-12-05 and returned to Perth on 6-1-06.
We had the best time of our lives. This was my 4th trip. Yes it is very very sad over there at the moment as no one seems to be going over as they seem scared from the last bombing. We need to get word out that bali is a safe place to visit now. We and our whole family felt very safe whilst we were over there. We all love bali and need to like I said above spread the word. My husband and I are now planning our next trip over there for this year.

You all receive my heartfelt sympathy and we shall continue to visit Bali whenever we feel like regardless of the terrorism that jeopardizes the whole world now.
We were born and live once, so we'd better live the life that's full. What is the use of living a long life hiding in your narrow corner and forever ignorant and scared?
Bon courage.
May the New Year 2006 see you and your business in all the best.

Dear folks,

Thanks for the note. I share your feelings. I went to Bali when the economy went to hell and the Rp. was trading at 17,000. I went to Bali when the first bombs exploded. I was there the week after. I went to Bali when SARS made planes empty going to Bali. And I will return to Bali in May of this year. My plan had been to visit Bali this month but I landed a really good contract.

Do not fear for me going to your island. But my Balinese friends tell me that hotel occupancy is very low in Kuta and Ubud. That means that occupancy in Amed, my other favorite place, must be zero.

I think that Bali will have to wait a long while until tourists think that it is a safe place to visit. You should thank your Javanese brothers for that condition.

Much affection, Ed

I agree with what you are saying. We have been offering great deals but the feeling re Bali is that it is still much of a painful reminder for some. Even the questions regarding our packages have dropped considerably and most of the questions come from the US. We are asked very often regarding the free Garuda airfares but we have heard nothing of this. if you could give me some information on this I would appreciate it.

Something will need to be done regarding Bali to get tourists back into your beautiful island as I am being inundated with bookings to Fiji at least 5 bookings and 7 quotes each week. If you require any information or help on ideas please ask.

Dear I Gede Sanat Kumara, thanks for the email regarding "Solidarity for Bali".

After 1. Oct. 2005 mediScon started a campagne to push up the tourism for your beautyful destination and we created different tools to promote the area Bali and Lombok.

We are pleased to inform you about the extension of our Special Offer for Indonesia, to boost the tourism in your area. Polio, SARS, the flu burung and the bombings on Bali and Sulawesi - current topics wich bring up old questions and influenz the tourism in a negative way!

mediScon handle about 500 until 700 individual traveler each month going from Europe to South-East-Asia, from South Amerika to China, from Amerika to Africa,... and many thousand people reading our daily news and informations each day.

We learned about the reasons why people decide to go to a place and why they avoid another destination.

As a member of The International Society of Travel Medicine and The International Society for Infectious Diseases, mediScon break new ground in tourism and health management by offering our service.

By means of promoting the travel medicine prevention work, we make traveler more aware and attentive. Our individual and funcionally established informations as well as the coordinated consultations are free of charge and without sales promotion for your customers and guests. Functionally established information, independent, objective as well as thrustworthy cooperation not only avoid thoughtless reactions of travelers
and people interested in traveling, but rather promotes a positive connection between your company, your customer and guest.

Answering questions directly, avoiding insecurities and offering the possibility to the noncommittal and direct access of functionally established and easily understandable informations, will be indispensable for an "unforgettable holiday" in the future.

Taking part in our offered seminar "First Aid in Tourism Medicine" will enable you and your staff to react accordingly to the daily occuring "culture clash" between different countries. Nowhere else your questions
can be answered individually and extensivly. Teaching will be conducted by European standards and will rise the quality of your service, promoting global knowledge and understanding. In conclusion, also and especially the empathic abilities of your employees will be broadened.

This will identify your hotel as a high quality provider of travel related health issues - a strong sign of excellence of continuing high class care. And this offers you to promote tourism in an advertising-efficient way. You will be able to acquire even more trust of potential guests, as internal and external threats are minimized and working process optimized. In the end, the learning progress will be evident for everyone.

For further informations about our "Healthcare Information Service" for your guests and our seminar "First Aid in Tourism Medicine", please do not hesitate to contact us or have a look at our website in english, german or indonesian language.

If your are interested to take part in our program to push the tourism to Indonesia, please let us know and we will find a way to start a kind of cooperation.

We just had a wonderful week in Bali it was also our first visit. We were deeply touched by the kind and gentle people. We also deeply saddened by the effect of the second bomb on and the general lack of tourists where ever we went.

Many of our friends told us we were mad to go but coming from England where we have lived through terrorism for many years we know life has to go on. We also believe that everything will be ok , this happens out of control. when the bomber has been found it means there is a way and a hope, but sometimes also the bombers are only the good man who always not honest to their self . this is a big problem. while some people has been killed because of them. terrorist similar with bad politic it always use a short cut and we in the right position and because of not sportif the way they
use is short cut like do a bom. everywhere has a bom , it proven that what the bomber do is evaluate of their negative point of view, they dont like us , and we have to fight for this to turn this situation back .why like
this. so the travelers will be coming back, with priority full time security so they will feel secure. until now i think one problem in bali is less control . so anybody can come and go without problem. please try
to do 100% security to check ID, Passport, Mobile for people to buy must present their ID so they will responsible for it like simcard selling just like here in Qatar. other this is must make a regular checking to find
something that is will lead to a problem.

at the end i still believe that bali will be ok soon.

Dear ABL teams,

First of all, I'd like to express my condolences to all victims and people left on the chilling tragedy hit Kuta and Jimbaran which claimed 23 lives and injured hundreds. I invite all people to gather and show the terrorists our strength, that's our spirit of togetherness. Even though we were bombed but we won't separate and peace will last forever in this island.

Terrorists are inhuman and conduct inhuman acts. So we have to always be alert and maintain our commitment to combat it. I was really impressed with the statement of an Australian tourist when asked about "why he didn't cancel his trip to bali just a day after chilling tragedy" and you know, he replied " Terrorists win if I don't go there" means that the message of scary spread by terrorists doesn't really work !! I think so.

After all, I really support the law enforcers efforts to heighten their preventive measures in order to ensure such carnage won't ever occur again. And I hope, the ongoing investigation will be fruitfull soon and perpetrators brought up the court!!

Happy Galungan and Kuningan and Long Life Peace..

Best regards,

Thank you to send me about the information from Bali. I know that we do need many tourists in Bali and in other islands, too. Because some tourists like to see other islands or other traditional or cultures. Bali is the touristique area that most of the time the way of life liek Western standard life. I don't tolerate with terrorists. I mean the extremist (fanatic). On the other hands, that some local people still like to preserve their traditional way of life for the goodness of morality. Some people perhaps get used to see that but some don't. That's the problem. We do not tolerate sex party or drugs. Hopefully, everything's doing fine. The tourists are the most income. The way of their life is not the same for sure. Sometimes, it's hard for me, too. Because if you see the Irian Jaya that local people (tribals) still behind the outside world where the top-less uncivilized and civilized society become one. And in some religions, we teach them differently. That's the gap or the problem of terrorsits.

Thank you for your Bali Solidarity message. It is indeed a sad setback for Bali. Terrible how a few people can destroy so much and have such little regard for life including their own. I hope that Bali Justice will become much stricter with their sentencing and not just let those who mastermind these evil acts free after only a couple of years jail - as what happened with the previous bombing . Please also have the people of Bali send a message of concern to your law courts that these criminal acts must be punished with the most severest sentence.

This latest Bombing will not deter us from coming to Bali in the future and I am happy to pass your message on to my friends.

I just returned from Bali 10 days ago, I know problems exist in Indonesia and will probably not change for a long time. Since Bali is an easy target with so many foreign tourists I believe it will always be on terriosts list to hit. I travel to Bali twice a year on business but I will not stop my travels to Bali. I
cannot tell anyone Bali is safe, I have not for years traveled in heavy tourist areas of Bali because of the dangers that do exist. Bali needs a solid police force that will enforce the law and not take bribes and look the other way before real action can be done. Anyone who travels to Bali and the locals all know the
payoffs the police take, it is a shame this happens.

I hope the new president of Indonesia can put a stop to this so his nation can be more safe. I will continue to come back to Bali, but again I cannot tell any tourist for now it is safe, now all must watch what is happening around them and take action if something looks out of place. You cannot sugar coat the island of Bali and let innocent people on vacation walk into another bombing..educate tourist what to look out for and maybe they can help catch these people out to do harm before they can. Let's stop the bombings before they happen and once again make Bali a place of peace for all to travel to again.

We are devastated to think the terrorists can come and go in Bali and do this to its beautiful people. We come home to our “safe country” and back to our normal lives, we leave these poor people there with no income etc.I wish your government were like ours and helped the people with education and pensions etc. I feel so much for them but helpless to fix it. It seems the terrorists wait till things calm down and people are coming back to the Island and then ,bang in they go again. Perhaps the government should step up the security into clubs and restaurants. No back packs or large bags ,check vehicles etc………. That all happens over here. But doesn’t make us any different . It is terrible we are having a war with people we don’t know or can’t see. My sympathy goes out to you all.

My very best and sincere desires of peace and prosperity for Bali, being the same as ever: the best place and the best people in the world.

I've been there only once, with my wife and my eleven years son, this March 2005. I would like to travel there whenever I can (money and time, we are far in Spain). Even to live there.

My best wishes from me and my family. We have had also terrorsit attacks in 5 trains in Madrid on 11th of March, 2.004. We know what is this. And we must continue living looking for happiness.
