All trekkers must be accompanied by an authorized guide. It is best to arrive the day before you want to trek, and make inquiries at the park headquarters at Cekik, the visitor's centre at Labuhan Lalang or any hotel in Gilimanuk or along the coast east of Gilimanuk.

These are some of the more popular treks:

From a trail west of Labuhan Lalalng, hike around the mangroves in Teluk Terima bay. Then partially follow the Sungai Terima river into the hill and walk back don to the road along the step at Makam Jayaprana. You may see grey macaques, deer, and black monkeys. Allow teo to three hours.

A longer trek (four hours) starts at Kelatakan village, passes the microwave tower on Gunung Kelatakan and returns down to Ambyasari.

From Sumber Kelompok, go up Gunung Kelatakan (698m), and hike back to the main road near Kelatakan village. This hike takes six to seven hours, but with some preparation, and permission from the park headquartes, you can extend this to a two day hike. Bring a tent, or your guide can make a makeshift shelter.

The best way to explore the mangroves of Teluk Gilimanuk is by chartering a boat from the makeshift port. This is the ideal way to see bird life, including the kingfisher, and, very rarely, the Bali Starling.

From about June to September (when the sensitive Bali starling move further inland) you can trek around some of Prapat Agung. Allow at least five hours (one way) from Sumber Kelompok to a point near Lampu Merah (Red Light), via the Bali Starling Pre-Release Centre.
