The traditional Balinese house is famous for its
ecological aspect, which is environmentally friendly. The house,
bale (a traditional compound to relax or sleep in Balinese house
complex) and rice barn are made of natural products such as coconut
wood for the pillars and building materials and alang-alang (dry
long grass) or wooden roof for the roofs. The architecture of the
house and bale is also typical for tropical climate and ecologically
friendly. The open architecture lets you to touch the surrounding
environment, to feel the wind, the heat of the sun and also the
animals such as birds that come to your house. It is a natural way
of living.
The tropical climate only knows rainy and hot seasons.
The open architecture makes you comfortable during the hot season
therefore you don't need air circulation system.
During the hot season the open architecture will ease the air current
flowing through the house. The alang-alang roof will cool you off
if the tropical sun heats you.
The open space makes the house easy to be cleaned during the rainy
season. The quality of the woods used to build the house is also
primary. Coconut wood has long been used by our ancestors for building
materials. The wood is proven to be strong and long-lasting. The
wood materials for the house, bale and also rice barn are three
times furnished to prevent any moss and insects. The alang-alang
roof also has two layers. This makes the material durable either
on rainy season or hot season. The house, bale and rice barn are
entirely made with precisions by skilled carpenters, which enables
the knock down system to be applied. This system allows the traditional
house to be packed and shipped to any corner of the world.
